Sakshi Malik is from a small family in Rohtak, Haryana. But her biggest motivation and power was her family who made what she is today. Her father’s name is Sukhbir Malik he was a DTC bus conductor from Haryana and mother Sudesh Malik she used to work in Anganwadi in Rohtak. He also has a brother named Sachin Malik. Their caste was Jat. Sakshi Malik studied in Vaish Public School and later DAV Centenary Public School in her locality. She gained interest in wrestling from her grandfather Badlu Ram and began her training since age 12 from a professional trainer Ishwar Dahiya at an Akhara in Rohtak. Despite all these, she did complete her master’s degree in Physical Education from Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, Haryana.

Career & Achievements
Sakshi Malik continued her training with academics side by side and also started applying for railway jobs. She always had a passion and dedication towards the game. Her first success as a wrestler was in 2010 at Junior World Championships where she won a bronze medal in 58kg freestyle event. Then a few years later in 2014, she won a gold medal in the 60kg category in Dave Schultz International Tournament after this achievement she became unstoppable.

But she didn’t leave her education wasted, Sakshi currently in the commercial department of the Delhi division in the northern zone and also a part of the JSW sports excellence program. Sakshi Malik was also awarded multiple cash prizes over 5.7 crores from the Indian Railways. She was also promoted from senior clerk to gazetted officer rank. She was also given land from the Government of Haryana.
Facts
Many of the neighbors pin pointed them for allowing her to play wrestling but breaking all the bumpers she did overcome and made her family proud.
After Rio Olympics, she also met a fellow guy Satyawart Kadian who was from the same background of wrestling. They fell in love and tied the knot on April 2, 2017, in Rohtak. They had a grand wedding and many of their fellow wrestling mates and players were also invited.
Sakshi Malik is also a fun-loving person who loves traveling and doing Yoga as well. She also believes in social works and was featured for a women’s day campaign #EveryWomenStrong by the JSW group.
