Career

She is the first  Indian player who won the Asian Satellite Badminton Championship twice.  She also won a 4 star Philippines tournament in the year 2006. In 2008, she became the first woman to reach the quarter-finals at the Olympic games. She became the first Indian woman to reach the semi-finals of the All England Super series in the year 2010. In 2015, Saina Nehwal became the first Indian badminton player to reach the finals of the All England Open Badminton Championships. She is the first Asian woman to win the Asian badminton medal at the Asian Games in the year 2018.

She has achieved several milestones in badminton in India. She is the only Indian who has won at least one medal in every BWF. Major individual event. These events were Olympics, the BWF World Championships, and the BWF World Junior Championships. She is the first Indian badminton player to have won an Olympic medal.
