She is the first Indian player who won the Asian Satellite Badminton Championship twice. She also won a 4 star Philippines tournament in the year 2006. In 2015, Saina Nehwal became the first Indian badminton player to reach the finals of the All England Open Badminton Championships. She is the first Asian woman to win the Asian badminton medal at the Asian Games in the year 2018.
