Daniel Sams started his cricket career in 2011 for New South Wales. He joined Randwick Petersham Cricket Club at the age of 19 as an all-rounder and has been playing for them ever since.
He continued to perform at first-tier level for roundwick, which eventually forced him to play first-class cricket. He made his first-class debut for canterbury on October 30, 2017. He scored 49 in the first innings and 88 in the second innings of the match. Also, he took 3 wickets in the match.
The following year he joined New South Wales and began his career on the list, playing against Western Australia. Daniel scored 62 in his debut match. Also, he took 3 wickets, including the wicket of Josh Phillip, who made his list-making debut on the same day. Sams played his first T20 and BBL match on december 19, 2017. He made his debut for the sydney sixers against the thunder.
He took 4 wickets in his debut match. His first BBL wicket for the sixers was josh butler, as he bowled him with a catch in the first over of the league. Then, sydney thunder signed him for BBL 2018. Also, he took 3 wickets in the match. He has played 14 matches this season and has taken 15 wickets out of a total of 6,778. In BBL 2019, he played for the same team and took a maximum of 30 wickets in the tournament. He broke the record of Kay Richardson, who took 24 wickets in the 2018 BBL.
