Pritam Chakraborty, popularly known as Pritam, is an Indian music composer, singer, instrumentalist, and guitar player for various Bollywood films.
Pritam Chakraborty was born on 14 June 1971 in a Bengali family. His father’s name is Prabodh Chakraborty, an insurance officer, and his mother’s name is Anuradha Chakraborty. Pritam completed his schooling education at St. James’ School, Kolkata. He completed his graduation in Geology from Presidency College, Kolkata.
Pritam joined the Film and Television Institute of Information, Pune for sound recording and engineering in 1994. During the course, he got a chance to create the background music in a film by Istvan Gaal.

Initially, he started composing ad jingles for brands like McDonald’s, Santro, Limca, etc.; Pritam composed title tracks for TV serials like Astitva, Kashmeer, and Miilee more.
With a beautiful blend of Indian classical music with western influences, Pritam had established his name in the industry. His composition of Dhoom’s title track was a super hit across the globe.
He continued his hit compositions like Jannat, Gangstar, Life in a metro, Mauja hi Mauja, Jab we met got huge positive reviews. His Sufi song “Pee loon” and “Tum jo aye” was loved by millions. Other music like “Mere bina”, Crook, “Rabba main toh mar gya”, Mausam was phenomenal.
He also recreated “Dum Maro Dum” and got works in movies like Bodyguard, Race 2, Yaariyan, and many more. He took a break and returned in 2015 with the success of composition. Gerura from Dilwale was the first song to cross 100M views in youTube. Pritam judged and mentored shows like Chote ustad, and Dil hai Hindustani.
He won several Filmfare music awards for his marvelous compositions. In 2012, he won Asia pacific screen and Asian film awards for the best music. He won several Mirchi music awards from 2015-2017 for Gerura, Hawayein, and many more.
Pritam won the Indian television academy award thrice for songs like kashmeer and remix. In 2016, Pritam won the global Indian musical award twice for Gerua.
